Swap My Shift

Last updated: September 15, 2026

Swap My Shift is an app that lets a group of coworkers post shifts they want to give up and shifts they want to pick up, and keep track of an internal "stars" balance between themselves. This page explains what the app collects, why, and what your choices are.

Who runs this app

Swap My Shift is operated by Timothy Chen. You can reach me at timodano@gmail.com with any question about your data, including a request to delete it.

What the app collects

Account information. When you sign in with Google, the app receives your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. You can also add a phone number, which is optional.

Group membership. Which groups you belong to, your role in each group (member or admin), and your stars balance in each group.

Shift and trade activity. Shifts you post, shifts you offer to pick up, the short note you attach to a post, and a record of completed trades and the stars that moved as a result.

Schedule data. If you choose to link a Qgenda calendar, the app imports your shift schedule from the link you provide. Linking a calendar is optional and you can remove the link at any time in group settings.

Notification preferences. Whether you want to be notified, how, and the thresholds you set.

The app does not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, or any health information.

Why the app collects it

Everything above exists to make the app work: to show the right shifts to the right group, to let members contact each other about a trade, to keep stars balances accurate, and to send notifications you asked for.

The app does not use your information for advertising. There is no advertising in Swap My Shift.

Who can see your information

Other members of your groups. People in a group you belong to can see your name, the shifts you post, the notes you attach, and your stars balance. This is the point of the app. People outside your groups cannot see any of it.

Your email address is shown to another member only when they choose to contact you about a shift you posted, and it is included in the email that gets sent.

Group administrators can see the membership of the groups they run and can adjust stars balances within them.

Nobody else. Your information is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Where your information is stored

Data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database provider, on servers in the United States. Sign-in is handled by Google. The app is distributed through Apple's App Store and TestFlight and through Google Play. Each of these companies has its own privacy policy governing the data it handles.

Email you send through the app

When you contact someone about a shift, the app opens your own email app with a message prepared for you. You send it yourself from your own email account, and the contents of that email are not stored by Swap My Shift.

How long information is kept

Your account information and activity are kept while your account exists. If you leave a group, your membership and stars balance in that group are removed. If you delete your account, your profile and your posts are deleted.

To delete your account and everything associated with it, email timodano@gmail.com and it will be handled within 30 days.

Your choices

Children

Swap My Shift is meant for people in a workplace and is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

Access to data is restricted so that you can only see information for groups you belong to. No system is perfectly secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security, but access controls are in place at the database level rather than only in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the date at the top of this page will be updated and the change will be noted in the app.
